Our instructors are keen on sharing their knowledge and know-how. We offer photography classes, from basic to expert. Our newest addition to our class repertoire is S.W.A.P.T. series, "Shoot With A Pro Tuesdays". But our "Digital 101" and "Buttons and Knobs" classes, in addition to our lowest price guarantee, and kid friendly environment, our classes are simply one of the many reasons why Fort Worth Camera is every one's favorite local specialty store when it comes to service and individual attention. You will achieve greater enjoyment from your camera and your photography after attending one of our classes!
Each Tuesday, starting in the late afternoon and going into the early evening, we will be having a basic knowledge seminar, with instruction in a particular area of interest and then a shooting field trip. EVERY TUESDAY weather permitting.
We will start in the classroom at Fort Worth Camera for a brief sit-down review of the basics of shooting, touch on some different techniques, and briefly go over some camera controls pertaining to the activity when before we venture out to our shoot. We will then head out for a hands-on sessions. We may go to the Botanical Gardens, Museum district, Downtown FW, Stockyards, or other interesting or historic places around town. Everything we plan to do will be within a 5 to 10 minute drive. Some weeks we may discuss outdoor portraiture, candid people photography, lighting, scenic urban landscape, architecture, fall or seasonal foliage, and the equipment you may want to utilize to achieve the results you are looking for. If you miss the week we are teaching your particular area of interest, no worries! We will be rotating these classes through and you can catch it next time, approximately a 4 to 5 week rotation. These are designed to be stand-alone classes, so rest assured that each class is new information and you can jump in anytime, and not miss anything from the previous weeks.
With the emphasis of these classes to be about specific techniques, we do ask that you are familiar with the manual settings of your particular camera (it is mandatory that you bring your camera and lenses with you). We are considering these classes “advanced basics”, since our emphasis is in particular techniques, and we would like everyone to be at a comfortable level with their shooting. It is recommended to have previously attended one of our "Digital 101" classes. However, the first part of each session will be an overview of camera functions in general. If you are having problems figuring your camera out, it is important that you are present for these sessions, or attend one of the "Buttons & Knobs" camera specific classes also offered at Fort Worth Camera.
Now, the specifics. We will meet at Fort Worth Camera between 4:45 and 5 pm, and have roughly 45 minutes to 1 hour of classroom instruction. We will then proceed to the location, where we will have a demonstration of equipment and technique, and allow everyone to work alone or in small groups on what we discussed. We plan to have an instructor for each 6 people in attendance, so you will get plenty of hands-on time.
In case of bad weather, we will go to an alternative venue where we can still work on techniques. We plan for these classes to wrap up around 7:30pm, or dark, since most of the time we will be working outdoors. If we did a Night Photography workshop, we would start later and end later.
The cost for each of these S.W.A.P.T. sessions will vary .
